AED Health Grants

AEDs or automated external defibrillators are used to revive the victims of sudden cardiac arrest. The importance of availability of this lifesaving device has been recognized by various renowned associations like the American Heart Association (AHA) and American Red Cross. AHA advocates that these devices must be available at all the places where public gathers as sudden cardiac arrest can victimize anyone, anywhere irrespective of age or fitness levels. Timely defibrillation can save up to 100,000 precious lives. These devices need to be readily available in companies, clubs apart from malls, airports, train stations, etc.

AED health grants are given for successful implementation of AED programs.
Having an AED in an establishment is as essential as having fire extinguishers or smoke alarms. An AED costs anywhere between $1500 and $2500 and such high costs restricts implementing AED programs. However, many people are also unaware about the AED health grants that have been made available by local, state or federal government to facilitate public institutions, government organizations, schools, and non-profit organizations in buying and deploying AEDs.

There are also over 65,000 private foundations in the US that provide AED grants. These foundations provide grants up to $20 billion to fund AED programs as it is mandatory for them to give 5% of their market value assets for generous causes to maintain their tax-exemption status. The main reason for encouraging grants for automated external defibrillators is to enhance the quality of first aid administered in emergency situations. The grant can be availed on all popular brands of AEDs, such as ZOLL, Philips, Meditronic, Burdick and lots more. The AED manufacturers want to increase their market share by selling maximum number of these lifesaving devices. Hence, some AED grant programs are also funded by corporates and AED manufacturer sponsors.
